Riya Savant Silver Medallist at u-13 Girls National Chess Championship at Chennai.Ritviz Parab 5th in Open u-13 Nationals

Geno Brand Ambassador and Woman Candidate Master   Riya Savant  won the Silver Medal at U-13 girls National  Chess championship at Chennai.

Riya, a std 7th class student of St. Marys high school, Mapusa  secured 8 points from  11 rounds to emerge second on better tiebreak score

.Riya had slipped to 18th position after two consecutive losses in 7th and 8th rounds but in the last 3 rounds she fought back winning all her 3 games to gain the prestigious second spot. She was also seeded 2nd in this tournament.Riya has thus qualified to represent India at Asian and world Chess Championships in the year 2013 to be held at Vietnam and  UAE respectively. R Vaishali of TN emerge Champion in Girls Section.  A total of 102 players participated in girls section. Riya has performed  consistently this year securing 12th position in Nationals girls U-19, 5th place at Nationals girls U-15 and third place at All India Fide rated event atPanaji. At International level secured four Gold Medals at Asian Youth Chess Championship at Sri Lanka this year.Riya is also Gold Medalist at U-11 Nationals in the year 2011.Riya will represent India at World Youth Chess Championship at Slovenia from 6th to 19th November 2012. Earlier to that she will participate  at Vizag GM International Open Chess Championship at Vishakhapatnam starting  from 25th October. 

Ritviz Parab 5th in u/13 (Open)

Another Goan player Ritviz Parab played very well to  finish  5th with the score of  8 points. He lost in the final round to the champion of the tournament Visakh N.R. ( 2121) of Tamil Nadu . Ritviz was on 3rd spot till end of 10th round but  had to settle at 5th place due to the loss in the last round.Other Goan Girls  performance at the above tournament.Riddhi Zantye 35th place with 6 points, Aditee Prabhugaonkar 55th place  with  5.5 points , Aishwarya Thorat 64th place with  5 points .Open Section Rishabh Naik 21st place with 7 pts, Audi Ameya 27th place with  7 points , and Nitish Belurkar 51st Place  with 6.5 points and Saeish Audi scored 4.5 points .
