Winners of State Team Open & Women Chess Championship 2013.

The Team Chess Teens de Goa, captained by Mast Niraj Saripalli  and other Team Members  a) Ritviz Parab b) Rohan Ahuja c) Niraj Saripalli d) Anirudh Bhat and e) Nandhini Saripalli  won the Gold Medal and Trophy and became  All Goa Champions by securing 10 Match points from 5 rounds  in Open Category and Team Famous Five , captained by Miss Gauri Hadkonkar with other Team Members a) Krystal Fernandes b) Gauri Hadkonkar c) Aishwarya Thorat d) Adittee Prabhugaonkar and e) Urvi Bandekar  won the Gold Medal and became All Goa Champions  by securing 8 Match points in Women Category.

 

The Team BCA Bambolim , captained by Vasant Naik and represented by M. Barath, Vasant Naik, Shane Braganza and Snehil Shetty won the Silver Medal  and Team  PTCA Warriors  captained by Milind Gauns and represented by Mohit Khandeparkar, Milind Gauns, Aston Dias and  Gaurav Madkaikar Bronze Medal Trophy. Both the teams Scored 8 Match points each.

 

Women Category: Silver Medal went to Bambolim Chess Club represented by Sakshi Naik Gaonkar, Swera Braganza, Disha Verenkar and Gunjal Chopdekar by scoring 8 Match points and Bronze Medal won by Inspiration Team represented by  Deepashri Malvankar, Sampada Barve, Supriya Shanbagh, Apurva Naik and Alaina Pereira,Team by securing 5 Match points.

The winning teams shall represent Goa in National Team Championship to be held at Hyderabad from 20th to 26th February 2013.

 

The Tournament was organized by the Mormugao Taluka Chess Association (MTCA) under the aegis of Goa Chess Association (GCA) and in all 13 teams in Open Category and 5 teams in Women Category and  all 85 players participated in the Tournament.

 

In the blitz tournament conducted before the PD function, Mast. Rohan Ahuja became the Champion with 5.5 points.

The Tournament was held at the Hall of Regina Mundi High School Chicalim. The MLA from Dabolim Constituency Shri Mauvin Gudhino  was the Chief Guest for  Prize Distribution Function who appreciated the development of Chess in Goa as compared to other sports and appreciated  the parents role in any sports. He gave away the shield, cash prize and medals to the winning teams. Shri Ashesh Keni, President of the Goa Chess Association addressed the gather, while Mr. Kishor Bandekar, President of Mormugao Taluka Association welcomed the gathering. Mr. Arvind Mhamal Secretary of the GCA was the chief arbiter for the tournament and Mr. Swapnil Hoble was the deputy arbiter. Adv. Anita Thorat Treasurer of the MTCA coordinated and compared the entire function. Other presents were Mr. Balakrishna Jt. Secretary of the GCA, Mr. Vasant Naik Secretary of MTCA, Mr. Jay Thorat.  Adv. Mangurish Kenkre member of MTCA proposed vote of thanks
