FM Anurag Mhamal gets his 2nd International Masters Norm.

Dempo Goodwill Ambassador and Goa's top rated player FM Anurag Mhamal ( 2370 ) got his 2nd International Masters norm at the ongoing Rose Valley Open International Chess tournament at Kolkata.

 He drew  with IM K. Rathnakarn  ( 2435) in the 9th round  to complete his second International Masters Norm. Earlier in the 8th round he had defeated Vikramjit Singh ( 2237) . He scored 4.5 points with 2 wins and 5 draws . He started well by holding GM Oleksienko and GM Deepsen Gupta for draws in 1st and 2nd round thereafter he defeated GM M.R. Lalith Babu and drew with two IM’s Vishnu Prassana & Akshyraj Kore. However in the 6th & 7th round he faced defeat at the hands of GM Laxman RR &  IM Dimakiling Oliver & made a comeback again in the 8th & 9th round  to score 1.5 points to bring his total score to 4.5 points out of 9 rounds to achieve his second IM norm. He has to get 1 more norm to become the 1st International Master of Goa.

 He had already made his 1st  IM norm at National Premier Chess Tournament alongwith his Ist GM Norm. All his three Norms have been made at tournaments played at Kolkatta which has proved to be a lucky venue for him so far. Anurag is a student of Vasantrao Dempo Higher Secondary School of Commerce Miramar.

 Anurag has achieved so much in recent past and the credit goes to the Chairman of Dempo Group of Companies Shri Srinivas Dempo and V S Dempo Holdings Pvt Ltd for their full financial support.
